 Songs About Books! Connecting Music and Literature Sarah and Lisa perform fun-filled songs which include the audience from the first moment. Hello is a wonderful song in which people learn to greet each other in eight different languages. Favorite books such as Charlotte's Web, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Owl Moon, Walk Two Moons and Stellaluna are depicted in song, along with others about food, endangered animals, conflict resolution, and a loquat tree, which is native to China. This program is preferred among teachers and children.  
  
Prairie Orchid's Songwriting Workshops
give children the opportunity to create songs based on their favorite books or current studies. Sarah and Lisa, as Ohio Arts Council Artists-on-Tour, have
inspired hundreds of students - and their teachers - through their school songwriting residencies.Sarah and Lisa, on the Songwriting Workshops: "Songwriting allows spontaneity between the teacher and children, encourages literacy and an interest in books, and fosters creativity in the classroom that spills over into other classes. Many times, teachers have told us that their classes wrote additional verses after we left. It is truly exciting to know we have started something that will continue after we are gone." "We wrote a song with students about the three branches of government. We did our government homework, but they taught us all we needed to know. We helped them put this knowledge to music and created a fun song. The song is a tradition that is handed down each year to the third grade in preparation for the fourth grade proficiency."
